God I hated fishing that river growing up. I loved Smith Mountain and my home lake, Lake Whitehurst in Norfolk. I've caught so many big largies from Lake Whitehurst including my 9lb 6oz PB. Tons of 6+ lb bass in that lake. However, never caught any bass over 2.5 on the James. Striper though? That's a whole different story when they are making their spawn runs. Caught absolute monsters from the mouth of James River into the Chesapeake. As much as I love the Tennessee River, I do have a soft spot for Lake Whitehurst and Smith Mountain.

DC how are you gonna do an intro to the James on the chickahominy river? That’s rt 5! Lol

A tip for fishing the chick if you decide to run down there. Try and hit any pads or Cyprus tress, I fished a tournament there not too long ago and there were crushing a chartreuse and white spinner bait, as soon as it pulls through the pads or bounces off the “knees” of the Cyprus trees. Hittin the bank and docks could work but it won’t be near as productive as the pads. Hope this finds you well man, good luck!

It would hard trying to keep up with the tides, that place looks so juicy, there's probably a lot of dead water there, it was bummer not getting to see you fish the knockout round, but I'm sure you tried your best, that's all you can do!🎣👍
